The oldest Spanish restaurant in New York (founded in 1868) is not an easy place to find, since it just has a small sign on the wall outside. Once you do find the door however, you will be greeted by televisions turned to soccer matches and the smell of tapas (sardines, octopus, and shrimp) cooking on the grill, especially if you sit by the open kitchen. For a taste of authentic Spanish cuisine, be sure to try albondigas (Spanish meatballs), boquerones (white anchovy fillets) and a little Spanish wine to wash it all down.
