Picasso, Michael Jordan, an iPod—all the greats make it look simple. Worthy of a seat at that table might be Egg, a cheap and seemingly unremarkable hole-in-the-wall breakfast (and now lunch and dinner!) spot in Williamsburg. The owner, a Southerner, worked out a deal with Sparky's All-American Food to serve cash-only breakfast in their simple, thrift-shop space until noon. Like all the greats, it's hard to put your finger on exactly why people are willing to wait in line for you. The eggs have been described as velvety, Newsom's country ham has been called impossibly thin-crispy, the caramelized grapefruit with mint otherworldly. The myth feeds itself.
