Sugar rush! A race for sweet supremacy among competitive cookie monsters.
Talk about a sugar rush. In the spirit of the holidays, Matt Timms brought his Holiday Cookie Takedown to The Bell House on Sunday for a competitive race for sweet supremacy. There were sugar cookies and ginger cookies and pumpkin cookies galore, with drizzles of delicious things like chai caramel, bruleed toffee and crumbled candied bacon.
After sampling 23 sweet treats, our taste buds had hit a wall, but we remember loving the ooey-gooey, peanut buttery "PB I Love Thee"—from Ben Lesnak and Allegra Angus—which won the judges' award. The audience award went to Mina Hochberg who served a thumbprint chocolate chip cookie a la mode. (C'mon, who can say no to chocolate ice cream?) All the happy cookie monsters in the audience were kept even happier with free bourbon-spiked eggnog.
And get ready: Matt and the Takedown crew will be back in January for the first annual Jerk Off, which we sure hope is about jerky!
