International Serious Eats Day | Radegast
In case you didn't know it, Jan. 8 was officially declared International Serious Eats Day by staff and users at SeriousEats.com, the uber popular (and James Beard Award–winning) food blog. To celebrate, users hosted over 60 meet-ups all over the world from New York to Fresno to Jakarta to Ireland, gathering at beer halls, restaurants and living rooms to meet, talk, eat and drink.
In New York, the meet-up was held at Radegast Hall and Biergarten in Williamsburg, where over 150 name-tagged foodies assembled to drink veritable buckets of beer, eat soft pretzels the size of our heads, and to put faces and user names together. Conversations spanned everything from people's preferences for cooking or baking, to favorite Belgian lambics and plans for next year's Great Hot Dog Cook Off.
Serious Eats' self-described "overlord" (seriously, it was on his name tag!), Ed Levine, noted that "Serious Eats has really been this connective tissue between people. It's a chance for all these strangers to meet and talk about whatever they want to talk about, not just about a post on Serious Eats." What's that old saying?
