22 pancakes in 5 minutes! Flipping for flapjacks in a race for gluttony supremacy.
Nolita American bistro Jo's served up its second annual pancake eating competition in a race to see who could scarf down the most buttery flapjacks in five minutes. The pancakes were thin and flavorful and served with butter and syrup, and contestants had to abide by two key rules: no dunking of pancakes in water, and ... um, no puking. Eeew. That said, about two dozen men and one lone female vied for the title of Pancake Eating Champ, along with a $250 gift card. With loud cheers and AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" blasting from the speakers, contestants went to town. Marcos Owens won first place for packing away 22 flapjacks in five minutes. His secret strategy? He not only arrived four hours early but also ate an order of French toast to prep. Now that's a warm-up!
