Heatwave meets meatwave at a sizzling, 100-degree carnival for carnivores.
A heatwave met a meatwave Saturday at Brooklyn Bridge Park, where over 50 chefs slung their best grilled, roasted and smoked dishes amid sizzling 100-degree temperatures. Thankfully, a terrific sea-breeze off the New York Harbor kept the carnivores cool at this annual carne carnival.
Crowd favorites were the boys from The Meatball Shop, who served spicy lamb sloppy joes, as well as the spectacle of smoked meats coming from the always mobbed Pat LeFreida Meat Purveyors booth. Rounding out the day: a well-attended "Best Butcher" competition, live music and chilled Amstel Lights at the ready. How's that for riding out a triple-digit scorcher?
