Squash that ol' pumpkin pie: this season's pumpkins are popping up in fritters, vodka, even pizza
As soon as Halloween candy makes its debut, pumpkins start churning in our minds. With over 1.5 billion pumpkins being grown in the U.S. each year, it’s no wonder these orange orbs appear to take over every grocery store, farmers' market and fall menu.
Jack-o’-lanterns, pumpkin pie, pumpkin ravioli and pumpkin cheesecake—there are tons of classic things to do with the cucuribita (see, we paid attention during botany class!). But why stop there? There are many other way to cook, fry, dice, puree and liquefy this fall squash. We've found some of the best and most unusual versions around the city. Pumpkin pizza, you say?
