From knishes to tongue to their world-famous (thanks to Seinfeld) matzoh ball soup, Mendy's is the biggest kosher game in town. There are other spots that follow Kosher law, but none as well-known as this sandwich emporium which does a brisk lunch business and does make a very nice pastrami on rye. If there's a line of fannypacked tourists, skip it, but if you see a way in, it's worth a try.
