The folks behind Peep, SEA and Spice bring their affordable, tasty Thai food and modern décor to the East Village in this chic bi-level brasserie, only this time with an emphasis on affordable, shareable small plates: Flavorful chicken Thai dumplings with shrimp ceviche, pencil spring rolls and duck leg confit will all run you under $7. Chef Peter Pitakwong’s large plates, though, allow you to eat like a king for a pauper’s pittance, with upscale fare like blue swimmer crab fried rice and salmon confit topping off at about $16. The funky bright orange banquettes and giant hologram Buddha keep the date quotient high. If, however, you’re craving simple classics, you might want to look elsewhere: Though you'll find Pad Thai and Thai iced tea here, they come with a twist—think smoked tofu and guava juice instead of condensed milk.
