The theme of 1849 is supposed to harken back to the Gold Rush era, and some of the decor does. But with the lighting, the 15 hi-def plasma screens, Internet jukebox and a lot of young ladies in skimpy tops, the place has more of a new millennium feel. Good comfort food options include ribs and other barbeque treats, all at some very decent prices. It's not chic, but if you love a beered-out good time, you may have indeed discovered some gold.
