The tunnel connecting this old-new york spot to the former across-the-street police-station might be closed, but this upscale tavern has still retained many of its undeniably speakeasy qualities. The classic American-Irish fare favors the likes of frittata (forest mushrooms, green onions and goat cheese), B.L.T (bacon, arugula, tomato, avocado, garlic caper aioli), cobb salads and blueberry cobbler, while the cocktail menu continues the bar's irreverent tradition with tasty mixes like the flirtini (stoli-o, orange bitters, champagne, orange juice) and those fabric banquettes could belong to no other era.
