While the peach, mustard and sky-blue walls give this this 20-seat neighborhood cafe its share of flair, the owners went for a play on words for its ambience. Put the accent on the end of Panaché (pronounced pan-uh-shea) and the meaning becomes "a mix" in French. Part coffeehouse, part cafe, part sit-down eatery, the restaurant features a menu that's equally diverse: La Tazza Italian coffee combined with Moroccan, Mediterranean and American fare. After nine years of working and managing cafes and restaurants in the city Moroccan-born Simo Zioual and partner Sal Benchammar are finally ready for their own. "I gotta know what I am doing," Zioual says. He hopes his experience shows in homeland dishes like meaty shawarma and spicy merguez — made especially for Zioual by a butcher in Park Slope. They share the menu with standard subs that come on Il Forno bread, along with made-to-order omelets, salads, smoothies, fresh squeezed juices and sweets that includes cheesecake, key lime pie and homemade tiramisu.
