Beer Table Pantry
The last thing you might expect to find in one of the world's quintessential transit hubs? A small pantry. But Beer Table / Pantry, a retail arm of the Park Slope bar and restaurant, ain't your mom's storage room. The first difference is the booze. Proprietor Justin Philips has rigged the shop with six draft-beer lines for filling growlers and lined the treasury with a rotating selection of 65 to 100 bottles. (Half of the store is refrigerated, so post-work railroaders can swap the usual Bud for a higher quality cold one.) Philips is also carrying a variety of pantry items that pair nicely with beer—things like vinegars, pickles, mustards, dried- and baked goods, all of which he says he'd include in his own dream pantry. We never thought we'd say this, but the commuters have it good.
