Cheryl "Salt" Jones, designer Andrei Najjar and Sandy "Pepa" Dennis
We'll admit it: We never expected to see Salt-n-Pepa guest-host a downtown fashion presentation. But there they were celebrating Social
Atelier's new collection (and probably hoping to generate buzz for for their
reality
show). Known for melding fashion with
political and social statements, designers Andrei Najjar and Ya’el Afriat have made
Social Atelier's
style all about being outpoken and in your face. Last night's show at Caravan was no
exception. Models sported T-shirts that spoke out against domestic violence amd female body issues, and urged people to challenge authority. Considering this, perhaps it's not that surprising that the divas who pioneered talking about sex
were here to toast this brazen label.
