Fashion Week might have formally started off this morning, but the party officially got started last night at Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion followed by the Fashion Rocks Pre-Party.
Held at the Manhattan Center, Gen Art’s bi-annual runway show featured 12 rising starts in accessories, men’s and women’s wear. Guests piled into the large ballroom with champagne flutes in hand. Unfortunately, the complimentary cocktail was a mix of bubble and a lot of grenadine. Don’t get us wrong: we love free bubbly, but this ratio tasted akin to cough syrup. We consoled ourselves with the fact that soon we would be in the presence of host Shannen Doherty. As a devoted 90210 fan, this was possibly going to the highlight of not only tonight, but the entire Fashion Week. Unfortunately, Doherty’s hosting skills left much to be desired: girl held the podium for only five brief minutes.
Later, at the Fashion Rocks Pre-Party at Mansion, the dynamic Pussycat Dolls had people dancing up and down in the packed Chelsea club. The only one who didn’t seem to be having a great time was red carpet arrival J. Alexander. We spotted a devoted fan asking for a photo with the runway coach begrudgingly acquiescing. We think someone’s headband was on a little too tight.
