Fashion Week: Day seven
Jessica Stam in a gown from Reem Acra's fall collection
On the second last day of Fashion Week, we took in the two R's of feminine style: Rebecca Taylor and Reem Acra. Known for her girly threads, Rebecca Taylor presented a fall collection strong on romance and bohemia, with sheer fabrics and mixed prints (think flowers paired with leopard). The combo gave the collection an ease, interrupted only with one model stumbling and taking off her shoes mid-runway. Hey, when high heels don't work, they don't work.

Following the romantic trail, we went next to Reem Acra's show. A label that made its name with wedding gowns, Acra continues to weave feminine frocks from gorgeous fabrics. For fall 2008, the collection focused on representing "confidence, modern luxury and a global sense of belonging." Colors of jewel-toned silk ruled the runway as Acra presented autumn coats, dresses, skirts and tops. The most memorable part? When the designer came out carrying her little white lap dog, who was dressed in a customized canine couture piece designed by...who else?
