Fashion Week: Day six
Chanel Iman in one of Behnaz Sarafpour's fall frocks
Yesterday, we took a much-needed break from the tents and went to Chelsea for Karen Walker's show. With the opening of her recent-pop store Den in the East Village, this New Zealand designer has garnered a lot of press. And if you're a fan of preppy-but-edgy clothes, you'll love Walker's fall vision. This "Gossip Girl" aesthetic came together in a red velvet suit; a white A-line dress with a giant plaid collar bow;  orange, white and gray Victorian blouse dresses; and a black blazer with a white Oxford and plaid tie tucked into a bright blue skirt. Metallic-colored heels and flats helped secure Walker's downtown edge, as did her giant knit caps.

Later in the day we went to Exit Art for Behnaz Sarafpour's show. Although the Iranian-born designer has been a longtime darling of the fashion world, she shot to mainstream fame with her 2006 Target collection. As we made our way to our seat, we couldn't help but notice that the audience was a quite a mix, with teeny-boppers in the front and second rows. We even spotted Leigh Lezark of the Misshapes walking in super-high heels to her seat. For autumn, Sarafpour worked off of a black palette accented with ivory, plum and gray. Dainty dresses ruled the runway with details such as leaf appliques, skinny belts and the occasional wool cloque. If we're ever invited to a super-fancy gallery opening in this West Chelsea area, we know what collection to turn to for some chic inspiration.
