Fashion Week: Day two
Gilded Age's fall presentation
We ended the first day of Fashion Week with Peroni and Vogue's "50 Years of Italian Style." When we arrived at Twelve 21 it was already quite a scene. But then, we guess five decades of iconic Italian fashion photographs is something to toast. And with Peroni as one of the sponsors, toast many people did. As we looked around at the larger than life images, our celebrity radar went off as Isabella Rossellini's daughter, Elettra Rossellini Wiedmann, glided around in a burnt orange dress, pausing to have her photo snapped with Queer from the Straight Guy Thom Filicia.

Today's fashion dose started at Gilded Age's men's show. A label that uses old machinary and methods to construct their clothes, Gilded Age drew its inspiration this season from "the lives and achievements of great American merchants and pioneers." Frank Woolworth being one of these model merchants, it made sense that the show took place in the Woolworth building downtown. In lieu of a runway, the models were positioned individually up the main staircase and in two smaller rooms. This made it personal, yet a little awkward, since you had to walk right up to the models to inspect the outfits. However, it was nothing a few glasses of St.Germain and champagne couldn't mitigate. And as always, the clothes exuded a rustic, classiness that are sure to become timeless wardrobe pieces.

(Gilded Age is available at Atrium, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman's, Camouflage, Scoop and Steven Alan)
