Hair accessories made from hair? A look at some not-so-manestream pieces.
Ancient Egyptian drawings depict pharaohs and queens exchanging balls of hair as tokens of true love. Victorians created ornate crafts made from locks of hair to honor the dead. Today, several artists and jewelry designers are bringing back the craft by using human, animal and artificial follicles to create fun accessories. Even "Project Runway" contestant Chris March memorably used real human hair in pieces for his final collection—a move that made many of the judges gag.
