Unlike America back you-know-when, there are no protests that Saigon-born chef Steven Duong continues to stay in Vietnam. His latest Vietnamese venture, after Nam and O Mai, is this modern purple-colored eatery in the East Village, which serves creative and authentic dishes from various regions of the resurging country. Whereas other similiar spots disappoint, everything here is fresh and light and done just right—try the rice-flour crepes with coconut, herbs, lime and shrimp; the poached crab cakes; and the baby back pork ribs with plum and lemongrass. Getting in—not getting out—is the biggest quagmire.
