Following a down-on-their-luck Christian boy band (Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham—who's Jewish) as they breeze into New York looking for their big break. A satirical musical comedy of a the highest order, Altar Boyz features catchy numbers, Wade Robeson-esque dance moves and songs titles that include "Girl, You Make Me Wanna Wait" and "Jesus Called Me On My Cell Phone." Premiering at the New York Musical Theater Festival in 2004, Altar boys moved Off-Broadway in 2005 and picked up the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and was nominated for seven Drama Desk Awards including Best Music, Best Lyrics, Best Book and Best Musical.
