It's not often that we'd list a daytime soap on our weekend TV list, but one very handsome actor is making "General Hospital" a must see. Rounding out the weekend is the "American Music Awards," which promises to bring Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston and Rihanna under the same roof. What more could we ask for?

Friday, November 20
What: “General Hospital”
When: 3 p.m. ET/ 2 p.m. PT on ABC
Why: We have two words for you: James Franco. The “Milk” and “Pineapple Express” actor will begin his guest stint on the show this Friday. Some will wonder why the movie star is spending time on a soap, but we will remind you that Franco got his start on a TV show, “Freaks and Geeks.” Oh, and then there’s that rumor that Franco’s appearance is actually part of a bigger avant-garde project he’s doing. Either way, James Franco is always worth watching.
