Need to go for seconds

I went to a food event last night with many restaurants featured, and there were many delicious dishes that I tried that I now need to eat in full instead of a sample! These were some of my favorites.

    No. 7 - 5

7 Greene Ave. - Brooklyn (Fort Greene)

No. 7 had a DELICIOUS vanilla and banana pudding they were giving out, one of the few places serving dessert instead of a main course sample. I love bananas so this won me over.

    Peppa's Jerk Chicken - 0

738 Flatbush Ave. - Brooklyn (Prospect Lefferts Gardens)

It seems like everyone knew about this place but me. Their BBQ sauce was super spicy in the best way. After my sample my mouth continually got hotter, making me beeline to the beer line. But it didn't interfere with the present eating, just after. I don't know if this will encourage or deter you from eating here, but they serve the BBQ sauce on the side. I definitely need to go back for more!

    Queen of Sheba - 0

650 Tenth Ave. - New York (Midtown West)

They were serving beef and lentil "menchetabesh wat." Wat that is I don't really know, but either way the beef one was delicious, and also spicy in the best of ways that wasn't overpowering, nor making me want to dump my head in a sink of water. I didn't try the lentil one since I was so disappointed they had run out of beef my second time around.

    Momofuku

    Momofuku - 4 1/2

171 First Ave. - New York (East Village)

I didn't actually get to try one of their cookies, since I put one down to work on something, and when I turned around it was gone! So I guess that's a testament to how good the cookies must have been. There was a "compost" cookie that contained potato chips, pretzels, brownie, and other bits and pieces that seemed odd to me, but someone told me they thought it was great.

    Mercadito

    Mercadito - 4

179 Ave. B - New York (East Village)

They were serving just plain home made chips and guac, which was deliciousss! The guacamole was spicy (I think we're seeing a trend here), but it was pretty mild with a little bite to it. The chips were also amazing. As restaurants were running out of things, I went back here just for the plain chips.

    Peaches

    Peaches - 5

393 Lewis Ave. - Brooklyn (Bedford Stuyvesant)

I believe this restaurant is part of Smoke Joint, or maybe they are just owned by the same people. I forget if I sampled Smoke Joint (though I heard they're yum!), but I did have a bourbon cupcake from Peaches which was deelish!

    Pacificana - 0

813 55th St. - New York (Sunset Park)

They had some yummy spring rolls! Upon further reading I found out it consisted of duck liver ... who knew!?
