A cocktail lounge of the highest order, this warm, golden-lit grotto is very likely on par with one's vision of a speakeasy—which is essentially what they've modeled themselves after. Rough stone and exposed brick walls add a bucolic appeal, as do the bronze ceiling and copper-topped bar. Veteran chief mixologist Charles Hardwick’s concoctions dutifully hark back to Prohibition both with their monikers and their ingredients, and are heavy on gin, Rye and vermouth. While vodka is served, it's clearly not in Hardwick's vocabulary when it comes to crafting authentic, complex cocktails. One of the standout features linking Blue Owl to legitimate speakeasies is the secluded cocktail room for events. Hidden by a 2-way mirror, the space is only accessible through a private entrance, unique password for guests and is signified by a single blue light.
